ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Moving Traditions and JQ International‘s Teen JQSA are excited to partner and bring you Tzelem for LGBTQ+ teens, a new program held monthly at the JQlub for LGBTQ+ Jewish teens.

Moving Traditions is a national organization that emboldens teens to flourish by fostering self discovery, challenging sexism, and inspiring a commitment to Jewish life and learning. Each month the group will focus on topics such as courage, friendship, stress, body image, and spirituality. The teens explore Jewish values and the issues they care about through games and discussion.

Tzelem for LGBTQ+ teens will bring together the same group of 8 – 12 teens each month to learn, grow, and bond together throughout the school year.

Meetings take place on the following Sundays from 1:00-3:00 p.m at the JQlub (801 Larrabee St. West Hollywood, CA 90069)

This event is organized and sponsored by JQ International

Since 2004 JQ International has been the premiere LGBTQ Jewish organization serving the greater Los Angeles area. Now celebrating its B'nai Mitzvah year, JQ has established an impressive track record of diverse, impactful and innovative programs, services, and partnerships throughout the region that benefit LGBTQ Jews and allies of all ages; in the past year alone touching more than 13,000 lives in the queer and ally Jewish community. JQ International's mission is to build and strengthen a community that nurtures a healthy fusion of LGBTQ and Jewish identities by creating transformative identity-building and quality community engagement programs, offering a range of educational and training opportunities and support services for individuals, communities, and institutions alike, and fostering leadership development and action for and by our constituents. By working closely with teens, young adults, lay leaders, community members, and philanthropists, JQ provides a suite of transformative community based programs and life saving support services that continue to improve and transform the Jewish community landscape of Los Angeles and neighboring communities alike. The Teen JQSA (Jewish Queer Straight Alliance) is the first community-wide youth group in Los Angeles for all LGBTQ and ally Jewish teens ages 13-18. The Teen JQSA provides a vital, safe and affirming space for teens to learn about countering homophobia/transphobic myths in the Jewish community, and observe Jewish holidays through an LGBTQ lens. While providing a social environment for Jewish teens that may be dealing with similar situations in life, teens are able to create friendships, feel more confident with themselves, and gain an increased awareness of LGBTQ inclusion throughout our Jewish community. Programs range from movie nights to day long retreats, leadership development to volunteering/ service opportunities, and cultural/religious programs around the holidays!
